Here’s Sydney’s beef stew recipe that Beth and Moose unanimously chose as the winner:
1.5-2lbs of Stew Meat
3 Cups of Beef Broth
3 Cups of V8 Juice
2 yellow Onions Chopped in a Mini Chopper(very fine)
3 Stalks of Celery Chopped in Mini Chopper(very fine)
1 Stalk just sliced by knife thin.
3T of Butter
1/4 C Flour
1 Tsp of Salt
1 Tsp of Pepper
1/2 Tsp of Garlic Powder
1oz of Worcestershire Sauce
2Tsp Oregano
4-5 red skinned potatos, i just cut them into small squares, that’s really your choice
4 carrots, I peeled them then cut them to size of choice
Heat your pot or dutch oven to medium heat… with enough oil to coat the bottom.
Mix flour with pepper, salt, garlic powder. Then take your stew meat and put it in a bowl and mix it with the flour pepper, salt, garlic until its all coated.
Cook in batches…I Put half in my pot to brown and cook.. i just let it sit on one side then turn over.. just letting it cook… then poured on a plate… cooked the other half of the batch…poured on plate.
Then melted my butter in the same pot, poured in my CHOPPED CELERY AND ONION FROM PROCESSOR. I let it sauté for a while. 15 minutes maybe.. constantly pushing it around.. medium low heat. ((This doesn’t include the one stalk I left to chop by knife. ))
Then I poured my meat back in the pot with the celery and onion,
added my broth and v8 juice, oregano, more salt to taste & pepper, The Worchestchire sauce. Brought to a simmer… then added my potatoes which i cut while this was simmering, and my carrots!!!
Let it simmer on a low heat for about 2 hours checking on it every 30-1 hour
