Kanye West Performs New Material at Facebook HQ, References Taylor Swift & VMAs, Joins Twitter
Kayne West is embracing social media as he never has before. On Tuesday, he previewed his upcoming album at Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, California. Performing in a suit on top of a conference table, Ye rhymed in one song, Kill the hypocrisy/This is an aristocracy. I'm Socrates/But my skin more chocolatey." In another tune, which may be titled Chain Heavy, Kanye addresses the aftermath of his infamous spotlight-stealing incident with Taylor Swift at last years MTV Video Music Awards, rapping, I got called n***** on Twitter so many times...This is the making of a masterpiece/So we broke out the chains and told our master, 'Peace.'" There are clips of Kanyes performance on YouTube, but due to language they're definitely not safe for work.Kanye embedded one of the clips on his blog, accompanied by a note addressed to his Facebook friends. He wrote, Many times in life Ive had to deal with moments of doubt. And as its been a minute since Ive performed any fresh material in front of an audience, this couldve been one of those moments...but it wasnt. Your energy was a gift so electric, so genuine, that it really helped me give my best. The energy was so inspiring I had to keep going!
Kanye is expanding his horizons beyond Facebook. Hes joined Twitter, posting his first tweet on Wednesday. He wrote, Up early in the morning taking meetings in Silicone Valley. Quickly realizing his mistake, he wrote an hour later, Lol I spelled Silicon wrong ( I guess I was still thinking about the other type of silicone ITS A PROCESS!! : )
Kanye later tweeted that he's dropped the title for his new studio album. It was originally titled Good Ass Job, but he says he's "bouncing a couple of titles around now." The album is due out in September.
